River banks

What were you looking for down on the river banks? Did you find your youth buried in the earth? Was there any wisdom to be learned from the cottonwoods? Did you settle the score with yourself amongst the reeds? What was the reason the clouds were in the water?

Valentine's day by the falls cool mist on our toes our feet glisten in the afternoon sun. Our fingers mesh flirtatiously with clasped palms a kiss unexpected yet welcome. A warm smile over your shoulder a playful wink and we walk along past Valentine's Day.

When the music ends

Your arms around me hold me close it doesn’t matter what song is playing. The evening breeze through our hair as we twirl under jealous skies. Our feet tangle and stars collide as the band plays just one more tune. The chorus stops and the world halts but I’m with you when the music ends.

Unlikely places

Rec center and soccer fields

It was the place where we first met I asked you out and you said yes. Strolling along under summer sun hand-in-hand so care-free. In soccer fields our first kiss then back home before dinner. Our love grows in sidewalk cracks it blooms in unlikely places.
